French Art Deco Footballer Table Lamp, Nero Marquina Marble
French Art Deco Footballer Table Lamp, Nero Marquina Marble
French Art Deco meets the golden age of European football in this wonderfully characterful 1930s French Art Deco footballer table lamp, featuring a beautifully detailed bronzed footballer on a polished Nero Marquina marble plinth. Captured in play with one foot poised beside the ball, the figure celebrates the era’s fascination with athleticism, speed and dynamic human form.
Beautifully detailed, the bronzed figure retains a rich aged patina with warmer golden-brown highlights that bring out the modelling of his face, period football kit, textured socks, boots and the old-style panelled football. His forward-leaning stance gives the sculpture a wonderful sense of movement from every angle.
The footballer stands on a polished circular Nero Marquina marble plinth, its deep black surface crossed by distinctive fine white veining. Behind him rises an elegant fluted column with classical detailing, creating a strong architectural counterpoint to the movement of the figure.
Fully refurbished, the lamp has been carefully brought back into use while preserving the character and aged patina of its vintage components. It is fitted with a new brass E27 lamp holder, new electrical cable with inline switch and a European two-pin plug.
With its unusual combination of French Art Deco design and football history, the lamp makes a distinctive statement piece for a study, office, library or living room and an especially appealing find for a collector of vintage football and sporting memorabilia.
