Vintage Italian Ceramic Lamp, Ceramiche Campione Hand-Painted Parrots
Vintage Italian Ceramic Lamp, Ceramiche Campione Hand-Painted Parrots
Italian mid-century design meets playful modernist decoration in this hand-painted ceramic lamp by Ceramiche Campione. Dating to the 1950s–1960s, the elegant tapered body is decorated on each side with wonderfully stylised parrots surrounded by sweeping foliage, painted in cobalt blue, yellow, burgundy and black against a chocolate-brown ground.
The bold, fragmented forms and strong outlines give the decoration a distinctly Cubist-influenced character, while the expressive parrots and botanical motifs bring a playful quality to the otherwise beautifully restrained silhouette. Fine horizontal lines across the ceramic surface add subtle texture and emphasise the tall, sculptural form.
The underside retains its original factory markings, including CERAMICHE CAMPIONE, DIPINTO A MANO (hand painted) and the number 156, documenting both the Italian maker and the hand-painted decoration.
The lamp has been carefully refurbished for continued use with a new solid brass E27 lamp holder and gold-toned twisted textile cable, selected to complement the warm tones and mid-century character of the ceramic.
Standing 36 cm high to the socket, the lamp has a wonderful decorative presence. Its unusual parrot motifs, sculptural proportions and rich colour palette make it a distinctive statement piece for a console, sideboard or side table, bringing character to a mid-century, eclectic or contemporary interior.
