Step into the glamorous world of 1930s Art Deco with this exceptional cobalt blue glass vase, designed by Julius Stolle for the renowned Niemen Glassworks in Poland. A remarkable piece of interwar European glass design, it combines dramatic sculptural decoration with the strong geometry of the Art Deco period.

Deeply moulded cascading roses flow across the body before meeting sharp vertical ribbing towards the base, creating a striking contrast between romantic floral forms and architectural lines. The substantial pressed glass gives the relief extraordinary depth, allowing light to move through the different levels of the design.

Its saturated cobalt blue is particularly captivating. Depending on the surrounding light, the glass shifts from an intense, deep blue to a much brighter and more luminous tone as light passes through it — a quality that is even more impressive in person than the camera can fully capture. The varying highlights visible in the photographs are created by light reflecting through and across the glass.

With a height of approximately 30 cm and a weight of 2.26 kg, this is a commanding and rare piece of Art Deco glass. It has enough presence to stand alone as a decorative statement, while its generous proportions make it equally impressive filled with flowers on a dining table, console or mantel. Given its age, a liner is recommended when using fresh flowers to help preserve this remarkable piece of 1930s glass for years to come.
